Just got back from a family holiday in
Bulgaria thought I'd treat you to a few posts about the country. While away we
stayed in Sunny Beach, usually the party capital however we didn't go at peak
time so thankfully missed that! Close to Sunny Beach is a little town called
Nesebar which we decided to make a few shopping trips too.
To get there you have to get a short, cheap bus journey, however... the short cheap bus journey is like being packed
into a sardine tin, it also smells just as bad. I recommend getting a taxi if there’s
a group of you, I’ve never felt so claustrophobic and it wasn’t so pleasant stumbling
around and falling on peoples laps.
After a couple of trips via the bus we
realised that you could pay for a short boat journey to the town, a bit more
expensive however well worth it, while on the boat we saw dolphins and had a
clear view of the approach to the town getting to see the towns landmark wooden
windmill.
Nesebar
reminded me of a foreign Chester. It surprised me by being filled with boutique shops and stalls selling handmade products. To me it was like finding
a little hidden gem in a holiday resort area which would usually be filled with
the usual shops selling tourist products.
Thought
I'd include a few photos of the town’s architecture which I found beautiful.
The town was so quaint; above I even spotted a cockerel in someone’s window!
One of my favourite things about Nesebar where the antique shops filled with war memorabilia. I love seeing and being able to pick up things that may have such an interesting story behind them, that are so old, yet still in good condition. It's just an amazing feeling to think your holding something in your hand that may have belonged to a soldier that fought for his/her country. It was really interesting and almost like a history lesson, the items where things that you may never get to see in the UK. For war memorabilia or antiques Nesebar is a hidden gem of a place to find these kinds of things.
