La Perla have recently made Vogue news after featuring a mannequin that showed what looked like rib lines along her stomach.
The mannequin which caused complaints in the US stores is now reportedly being removed and will not be featuring again in La Perla stores.
Many of the public's comments on Vogue news asked why displaying a mannequin that had been designed to replicate a 'skinny woman' was such a bad thing?
This to me points to many fashion lovers not wanting change within the fashion industry. But I say why not? It's fine to display a skinny model, but why not display a larger or more average sized mannequin next to this if it is just based on modelling a mannequin on a human why not model one from the likes of Kate Upton's body?
To me I feel the ribs where an unnecessary extra why go to the extra effort of putting these on to the mannequin?

I can see that my perception on body image has been warped by the fashion industry, for instance whilst watching The Other Woman I was surprised to see they had picked Kate Upton and had her parading on the beach in a bikini. Why? Because part of me expected they would choose a large chested woman, with abs of steal and a glowing natural tan. That is when I officially realised, 'what has happened to me?' Kate Upton's figure is amazing and achievable!
Yes there are naturally skinny people out there and models and mannequins should still cater towards these people. But let's have a bit of variation yes?
