New year, new things

Like many people I like to go into the New Year with a fresh outlook, new clothes, new makeup, new me! Here’s just a few of the new things I've treated myself to ready for the new year...

Also as a little treat to myself I decided to have my nails done, I got a Shellac manicure, which is meant to last at least 21 days without chipping, I didn't want gel or acrylics due to the damage they do to your real nails so decided to give this a go after my mum not being able to stop going on about how good it is. It cost me £16 and I hope will last me the month, if so I'll be investing in this every month so I can grow my natural nails and have smudge free nail polish all the time...I went for sparkles for the New Year obviously....

I noticed this coat in Topshop just before sale started, it was on promotion at £60, so I had a feeling it would be going into sale, I decided to take the risk and sure enough on Boxing Day it had gone down an extra £10 so I grabbed it at £50!

I feel its a bit crazier than my usual attire however I just loved the idea of wrapping up warm in this.

I Bought this over sized t shirt just before Christmas, it was from River Island so I managed to get 30% staff discount, I ended up getting it for around £15 which I think is a bargain! Not only is it a top but it’s so long I've been wearing it as a dress also. I find the print really interesting and the gold colour ideal for the Christmas period, it's also a handy cover up being baggy it covers any lumps and bumps you might want to hide around the Christmas period!

£12.99 at H&M this basic little beauty cost me, I thought it would look great layered and on its own. Its such a pretty basic black vest I think everyone needs to invest in one of these for their wardrobe.

I'm not usually one for cute little dresses but I fell in love with this swing dress as soon as I saw it. I feel the interesting pattern gives the dress a more tom boy feel, which I love. At £25 and again from River Island so I received 30% discount it is definitely becoming a wardrobe favourite.

I got this H&M jumper for around £20, I've got a lot of fluffy jumpers in my wardrobe however what attracted me to it was the V- neck, it looks great layered, and I thought I could possibly turn it around and have the V neck as a dipped back when I want a change!

New boots! YOU CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MANY SHOES!!! The ones on the left are from River Island, I'd admired them for a while but had no money, just before Christmas I realised they were going into sale from £40 to £20 so as soon as they went in I bought myself a pair, can’t say no at £20! The boots on the right are originally from Asos however I bought them off eBay due to the fact I had seen and admired them about a year ago however never been able to get a pair. Come Winter, my old boots started falling apart and I remembered my love for these ones, so I decided to scout eBay again for them....Brand New Un-boxed, £45 including postage and packaging BARGAIN considering Asos originally sold them for £99!

This is my little box of goodies make up wise, I usually swear by my makeup and refuse to change the items I have always used, however I felt my makeup box needed a bit of an update.

  • Smashbox Photo Finish Blemish Control Primer - £28 and if you buy off Smashbox you get a free tester, so I picked the original Smashbox Primer in the mini version! So far the Blemish Control Primer has really helped my skin, no more bad break outs and the Original Primer I have been using for nights out as it gives your face such a nice silky feeling and you get a good even coverage and feel safe that your makeup won’t be coming off your face in the middle of the night.

  • L’Oreal Volume Million Lashes Luminzier for Blue Eyes - Around £5-£6 on eBay, I’ve never had much luck with mascaras, I knew Volume Million Lashes was a good mascara via feedback off friends and after finding out they made one that is meant to bring out the blue in your eyes I just had to give it a try! So far so good, I can’t notice much in the difference of my eyes standing out however the coverage and thickness is good, for the price I would much prefer to invest in this in the future rather than my usual Benefit of Mac mascara.

  • Maybelline BROWdrama Dark Brown Sculpting Brow Mascara - I got this free inside one of my Christmas Glossy Boxes however if you want to buy it its around £4.99, I'd just bought myself a brow pencil with wax before this so I didn't know what to use! So far it’s great, my only problem is I get most of the stuff in my hair but that’s because I fling the brush around.

  • L’Oreal Super Liner Brow Artist 02 Blonde - £5.49 I bought mine from Boots however you can get them from Superdrug. I'd heard about the nifty little wax pencil on the opposite end and the fact it has an eyebrow brush on it too. It's ended up being my night eyebrow fixer due to it coming out quite dark on my eyebrows so making them a bit 'standoutish' and I'm not fully sure yet if the wax does keep them in place but I'll do a test!

  • Clinique Even Better Eyes Dark Circle Corrector - £16.99 eBay! Bought this as I always look at my makeup when it’s all done and think 'Euch but I can still see my dark circles!!' So far so great it’s happening gradually but it’s safe to say I'm not looking in the mirror every time and seeing my dark circles, well worth investing!

  • MaxFactor Pan Stik Cool Copper - £6.99 Boots, however I have just noticed if you know what colour you need it’s a lot cheaper on eBay! I picked the darkest one as I'm using this as a 'cheek bone creator' my own weird idea, but thought that if I pick a darker foundation and blend it in to the bottom of my cheeks I might be able to create a shadow and it may look like I have great cheekbones? Nope? ...Well we will have to see, I'll take some photos!
